The Muru Management Consulting HR, racism, bullying and harassment experts, conduct independent investigations and reviews for government and industry organisations - usually as the result of internal complaints around racism at work, issues around internal complaints and investigations and/or bullying and harassment at work. We seek to understand the root causes of any complaints, and work with your teams to improve workplace processes and behaviours. We believe the focus should be on avoiding recurrence not just resolving the immediate complaint.
The aim of any organisation should be to provide a workplace that is effective, efficient, accessible and culturally safe. We can work with your executives, managers and team members to understand your current organisation (facilities, structure, workflows, culture etc.), ensure equity of access, develop efficiency improvements, and structure organisational processes and controls to reinforce the desired workplace culture and address racism at work, whilst identifying and addressing instances of bullying and harassment at work.
Sometimes process flows and process based decisions and controls fail. Our team specialises in conducting independent investigations into decisions, in order to understand why a decision was made, if it was correct (in terms of legislation, regulations, policy, logic and process) and identify why any processes and controls may have failed. We work with your team to correct any errors and develop and implement improvements and controls to ensure that failures are not repeated.
Muru have a number of business improvement specialists with experience mapping processes, applying LEAN and Six Sigma and working with stakeholders to identify, flesh out and test improvements. We also have a number of change managers with experience implementing large and complex change management projects and programs to deliver effectiveness and efficiency improvements, whilst closing compliance gaps.
Muru works with State and Federal agencies to identify and manage risks associated with delivery partnerships, and suppliers, in line with policy and legislative requirements. We provide a structured and consistent approach for the identification and assessment of risk prior to and during contracted arrangements and provide due diligence advice to mitigate any risks or potential compliance issues that are identified.
Muru undertook a compliance review of the Aboriginal Languages Trust Grants Program Policy, Processes and Tools against the 2024 NSW Grants Administration Guide. As a result of the review, a number of non compliances and opportunities for improvement were identified. Muru developed and delivered training for all ALT Grant Administrators, developed and delivered compliant processes, policies and grant guidelines for all ALT Grants and facilitated the evaluation of current grant programs to identify improvements and implement reform / new grant programs. As a result the administration of Grant programs are now compliant with NSW policy with reduced administrative processes and staff overheads. ALT also have tools developed by Muru (such as a risk assessment tool for grant programs) to simplify processes, standardised and improve process outcomes and reduce staff and grantee annual rework.
Muru undertook a review of the Aboriginal Languages Trust GST policy, process and payments. As a result of our recommendations, Muru provided training to ALT staff and decision makers and updated ALT policy, process and templates.
Muru undertook a review of the NSW Aboriginal Affairs and Aboriginal Languages Trust process for grants administration. We identified required process improvements under the newly released NSW Grants Administration Guide and blended these into current processes to ensure their processes were compliant, but also effective and efficient.
Muru have undertaken a number of independent workplace investigations for the NSW Department of Community and Justice across various NSW sites and functions (from office environments to custodial environments). Investigations have included allegations of bullying, racism, lateral violence, harassment, as well as more generic cultural assessments of particular teams,
