Risk Assessments
Our consultants have over 30 years experience in their industries and area of expertise. They understand the hazards and risks, how to mitigate them and how to document them. Using tools such as ICAM and Bow Tie they will coach and mentor your managers and teams through the safety risk assessment process and assist them understand, document, implement and assess controls.
Audits and Assurance
The focus of our audits is legislative and regulatory compliance, but we also focus on workplace health and safety system conformance and performance. As a result we can work with your teams to build a stronger more effective and efficient SMS that achieves the desired outcomes without undue bureaucracy and complexity.

Space Command
Defence Space Command was formally launched on 2nd March 2022. Initially established within Air Force. Recently Space Command transitioned to its own Command within Joint Capability Group and engaged Muru Management Consulting, to conduct a workplace health and safety risk assessment of the organisation and develop a broad WHS the associated framework, which encompasses the overall WHS state of the Command, to better manage the ongoing wellbeing of Space Command staff.
Department of Agriculture and Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water
Muru Management Consulting, provides workplace health and safety audit, safety risk assessments, risk management and advice services to the Departments including desktop and site audits, WHS training and review of suppler safety management plans and risks. Muru also assessed the overall adequacy of the Department’s approach to WHS in the Regional Land Partnership Program to determine system efficacy, vulnerabilities, practical improvements and improved alignment with respect to the requirements of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and Safety is being governed and implemented. We also prepared for and conducted a number of on site audits of a number of projects across Australia in order to verify our findings and recommend improvements for the next round of RLP projects.
Australian Border Force
ABF Report to the Incoming Minister 2022 – “In March 2021, Comcare issued an Improvement Notice in relation to the work, health and safety (WHS) of sea-going officers, issues relating to mental health risk identification and management processes, and the cumulative effects of WHS incidents. Muru Management Consulting Pty Ltd (Muru) was engaged to conduct a risk assessment with a focus on psychosocial hazards and risks associated with the maritime workforce. The final Muru report was issued on 30 November 2021 and included 85 recommendations requiring implementation across both Home Affairs and the ABF. A phased implementation of the recommendations has commenced. Engagement with the marine workforce in relation to issues raised through Comcare is continuing through regular forums, health and safety representatives and the CPSU. The Department and ABF recently initiated the Marine Improvement Program focused on addressing issues in the Marine Workforce and supporting elements in a cohesive and collaborative manner. Home Affairs and ABF have committed resources to the program, which is expected to take between 12-18 months to implement.”
Office For the Arts
Muru Management Consulting, conducted a workplace health and safety, facilities management and disabilities access audit of the National Collection Institutions (Australian Museums, Galleries and Libraries) and produced a detailed report for the Office For the Arts that was used to implement system-wide changes around Australia.
Air Force Safety Always Program
We have had the privilege of working with the RAAF, to improve the safety culture, safety risk assessment processes, workplace health and safety processes and tools around Australia. Muru Management Consulting, Project Managed the Air Force Safety Always Program to simplify, streamline and improve Air Force safety management systems (across all Air Force Units and locations) coach, train and mentor staff and managers and develop contextualised training, to achieve an enduring reduction in accidents and exposures and foster a generative safety culture. Muru were awarded the Hunter Safety Award for most innovative idea/product in 2019 for our work with Air Force.
